Tea with a view at the Shangri-La
another beautiful thing we got to experience in London was this absolutely magical and luxurious afternoon tea at the Shangri-La Hotel on the 35th floor of the Shard.
As this 5 star hotel is situated along the Thames, it offers amazing views over the river, St. Paul´s Cathedral and Tower Bridge. No better setting to enjoy a fabulous high-tea in the British capital, right?! 🙂
Thanks to the wonderful staff, we got the best table facing the Tower Bridge! We started off with a glass of champagne, while choosing our teas amongst a wide selection of blends. While we were still waiting, the waiter surprised us with tea leaves that he then covered with liquid, generating this almost enchanted fog, which flooded the whole table and left a beautiful smell in the air, that is supposed to prepare your nose for the tea experience ahead.
Then, finally, all the delicacies arrived. Classic scones, as well as savory sandwiches (chicken pastrami was our favourite) and scrumptios cakes and pastries (especially the lemon meringue was to die for)!! And the best thing is: they will refill your tray as often as you like (although we were already pretty satisfied after the first round, we still had to ask for some more chicken pastrami and big macaroons) 😉
So if you´re looking for a really special and sophisticated afternoon tea next time you´re in London, the Shangri-La is definitely the place to go to!!
Lots of love,
